Thermography Inspections

webodm.jpg

Drone inspection are becoming increasingly commonplace in a variety of industries as part of routine maintenance procedure. Aerial photovoltaic (PV) inspections are important because they can help to improve the efficiency of solar panels and commercial buildings to prevent potential problems. By identifying issues early, it is possible to take corrective actions to ensure that the infrastructures are functioning properly.

Drones meet and even surpass the definition of the inspection within the IEC standards. High-quality aerial thermography and analysis can provide credible and valuable module condition data down to the cell level.

When contemplating an inspection, It's important to determine whether you prefer adherence to IEC 62446-3:2017 standards. Many providers offer various inspection tiers, with lower quality options typically being less expensive.

Be aware that small discrepancies in images resolution, as little as a few centimeters can significantly impact data usability. This is particularly true for detecting anomalies like PID, where temperatures variations can be as minor as 0.1 degrees.

Post Processing Data

A drone solar farm inspection provides information that accumulates over time, given a historical record that will help them protect businesses in the future. Understanding the history of solar panel breakdowns is important, and the typical method of PV system inspections can't provide anywhere close to the amount of historical data a drone inspection offers.

Arriving to the solar field, you can see that many rows of panels are offline.

When inspecting solar panels, it is important to identify all possible anomalies. Anomalies can be anything that is out of the ordinary, such as a crack in the panel or an offline string. Once the data is analyzed, all anomalies should be documented and reported to the appropriate holder. This will help to ensure that the problems is fixed in a timely manner.
